the storm

white veins of light
streak thru' clouds blackened by lust
 betray Earth & Sea
amidst their lovers' spat

waves crash dangerously
‘gainst jagged rock
foaming
 a red passion

Midnite embraces them—still they rage
 the violent spray whips
exposed leg of beach
with icy fingers & howl in climax

the calm

sands awake to vibrant hue
 turquoise/golden/coral/violet
tangerine rays creep the flat horizon
reflected shadows of night receding

Dawn's warm hands caress
lovers cradled in a salty womb
 —the wreckage—
tail & limb wound in tranquil embrace

they rest upon
a pillow of tangled weeds
 & broken innoncense
dreams now only of death

scales—iridescent & smooth
 (so like human fingernails)
polished abalone
cold grey flesh slicked with mucus

locked
into a salty stare
unblinking—that lovers' gaze
tears frozen
like crystals of ice
distant
 and hidden
beneath the promise
of a kiss—blue lips
the treasure of pearls lie
 cold & mute

 porpoise song
 (so erotically mournful)
flows a liquid harmony
 —unheard—
by their shell-like ears
& washed upon a sandy tomb

 whisper
timeless Ocean

silence—so final
