When Jayne arrives at Lon's house, she makes a plea for him to give up on his plan, but her plea falls on deaf ears. Lon takes her to his bedroom, offers to let her strip or give him the option of undressing her after she is turned off. She elects to strip and lies on the bed. Lon switches her off and begins to molest her. As an emotional response to what is happening to her, Jayne begins to cry, an involuntary reaction. If she were able, she would stop her tears to avoid giving him the satisfaction of seeing her cry, but she cannot. A woman's tears would stop most men, but this does not stop Lon. She has difficulty breathing due to the discharge of mucus that accompanies her crying. Terrified and repulsed by what is happening to her, Jayne begins to vomit. In a turned off state, she is unable to expel her vomit and she begins to asphyxiate, a common cause of death among gagged rape victims. It becomes clear after a few moments that unless Lon turns Jayne back on so that she can help herself clear her air passage, she will die for real. Even after Jayne is turned back on, saving her life is a touch and go matter for several minutes. Even after normal breathing is restored, both Jayne and Lon are frightened by the close call. Jayne, now stuttering badly, suggests that Lon could give her a "s-s-s-seda--t-tive" so she "w-w-w-won't kn-n-n-now wh-wh-wh-what" is happening to her. But such a sedative would have to be so strong that she would not be able to drive home afterwards. Jayne says she will try to do better the next time, but doubts that she will ever be able to "relax and enjoy it." Lon may have to kill her in order to get what he wants, if that is really what he wants. Because the surgery is irreversible, there seems to be no way out. Jayne's last words to Lon as she leaves are "You b-b-b-broke me and
you c-c-c-can't f-f-f-fix me! You aren't as f-f-f-fucking p-p-p-powerful
as you th-th-thought."
